Back (for now)!

Hey everyone, I've just arrived back in my beloved state, and I'm happy to be here, if only for a short while.  I want to thank those who came to see me recently.  It was so good to see you.  I really appreciate your time as I know that was probably a lot to drive in one day for most of you.  I was excited that you all got to hear a little about what I've been learning recently, to see some of the places that I've gone during the past couple of months, and meet some of the people with whom I've become friends.

I'm sure I've got quite a few more faces to see in the coming days before I head out again, so I look forward to seeing my nearby friends and family, and I hear that a few might be joining us from not quite so nearby, so I look forward to seeing you too!

For tonight, I plan to unpack and go to sleep snuggled up with a kitty cat (if she'll have me)!

Recent Happenings

Quite a few things have happened since I last posted.  First off, my parents came to visit unexpectedly.  They came and stayed with me for a day.  And they brought QUINCE JELLY!  Yay!  Then we attended baby E's one-year-old birthday party:

In class, we got to learn all sorts of knowledgable information.  We were being informed of all of this valuable training material and learning how to apply it.  Do you know how we put it to good use?

My week has also consisted of Boy Meets World and Saved By The Bell Marathons, a long shopping trip/Krispy Kreme run with my friend Cr, getting my last shots (YAY!), organizing my banking info, cutting so much hair you wouldn't believe, and lots and lots of training techniques being pumped into my brain.

Here are updates from shots.  We've had 2 shot clinics so far and one more to go.  My first clinic I got 2 shots.  The second clinic, I got 2 more shots and a TB test (so far, results look negative).  Pain hasn't been an issue until I had a new type of shot most recently.  Now I have a sore arm.

For the kids, face painting was a big hit.

We've been hard at work in class all week.  A lot of us use our computers to take notes, as can be seen by all the power strips scattered across the classroom:

Every week we have a new main topic.  This past week we talked about cousins that are in troubled areas of the world and how we know that their trouble is actually a good thing because it means that a difference is being made.  This coming week is training for trouble and how to be wise in our words.  Please remember this time as it is very important and informative, but it makes a lot of people stressed.

Orientation is in Full Swing

My orientation is in full swing here in Virginia, and while I'd like for my time to be more focused on enjoying things like this:

(We've been filling out a lot of forms, and this one required me to get dirty.  That picture is after I've washed my hands.  Twice.)

Well, really, I've been enjoying my time, meeting a lot of new people and really growing, learning from other peoples experiences.  While I spend the majority of my day in classes, I get to meet and converse with other people at meals and evening and weekend activities, whether those activities are planned or impromptu.  For instance, tonight the singles are going to a teacher's house for dinner.

The weather here is a lot like home, but about 5 degrees colder most of the time.  And amazingly, that 5 degrees means much more SNOW!  I'd been here all of 2 days before we had a nice dusting.  The next day, our walkways were really icy, but within 2 days it had all melted.  And then a couple of days ago, we had a 50 degree day.  Yup, it's just like home.

Hello to all!
Sorry, there isn't much to see here yet, but eventually, I hope to fill you in on some workings in K-stan and how I will be used come April.
The first part of my journey will take me to Virginia at the end of January where I'll be training a lot to learn ways to work in different parts of the world.  I'm very excited about all of this but I'm going to need a lot of remembrance from all who feel called remember on my behalf.  I'd also like to ask you to perhaps mention me to other groups as I need support from many limbs of the tree.  Feel free to contact me through Facebook or other ways that you have at your disposal, of course being aware of how you discuss any information you have about my job.
